Living Well Doing Well When Taking a Cruise

Cruises are a very popular way to spend a vacation as a married couple, a family, or even by yourself and there are plenty of reasons why. Here are a few tips on how to enjoy your cruise and make it a memorable one as well as the perfect way of living well and doing well.

The Amenities

Some rooms on a cruise ship are small enough to only fit a chair and a bed so it is worth it to invest in a room with a balcony. These will cost more but the view and the room size is well worth it in the long run. Even if you cannot invest in a balcony room, there are other rooms that have windows where you can see outside and some with port holes which is a smaller window.

Keep Up With Expenses

One thing about cruise ships that is convenient is that you sign for everything then settle up your bill at the end. While most things or expenses are included in your trip such as most food and beverages, most entertainment, etc – there are some things that cost extra and this can really add up after a while. For instance, tangible gifts from the gift shops, certain food items like specialty coffee or milkshakes, alcoholic beverages, spa services, and salons are just a few examples of things that will cost extra and are not included in your all-inclusive cruise. Make sure you don’t spend so much on extras that when it is time to pay up, you are stuck with a huge bill. And just a tip – bring your own medicine and supplies because you do not want to have to pay $4 for a couple of aspirin or $9 for a box of band-aids.

Research

Make sure you do plenty of research. What is the ship like? What kind of things can I do on-board? Those are a couple of important questions but only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to researching your cruise. Also find out information about shore excursions when you are at a port. You will want to know how much each one costs and what all is included. Usually, these get booked fast, especially the more popular ones so plan ahead. Find out what things cost extra while on the ship like Internet service or dry cleaning. The more research you do, the better you are informed when it comes time to set sail.

Enjoy the View

While some people are perfectly content doing so, there is no reason you have to stay stuck in your room while at sea when there is an entire ship to explore. Not only can you enjoy the great big ocean but there are things on the ship to keep you entertained and peaceful like a gym, a massage therapist service, duty-free shops, shows, restaurants, games, and more. Even if you simply want to lounge by the pool and soak up the sun – that is fine too.

Have Fun

This should be a given but you are there to have fun and relax so make sure that you do so. Yes, book your excursions and explore the ports of call but don’t overextend yourself to the point of needing a vacation from your vacation. Take a day at sea to rest up and relax or take a few hours each day to just sit back and enjoy a serene hour or two without feeling that you have to be on the go constantly.
